This site was created to give parents of young children an overview of what the Chatterbox programs have to offer them and their child. Both the use of basic keyword American Sign Language (ASL) and musicwill enhance a child’s life tremendously, giving them skills to last their lifetime.
On our pages you will find basic information on our programs as offered in southern & western Manitoba, in the city of Winnipeg, as well as in communities in eastern Saskatchewan.
Our licensed instructor, the first to offer baby sign language classes in rural Manitoba, is willing to travel to your community at yourconvenience. She has taught parents of hearing children since 2003 and has received acclaim in various communities such as Brandon, Virden, Reston, Souris, Minnedosa, Sandy Lake, Dauphin, Neepawa, Hamiota, Kenton, and Winnipeg....and in October 2008...Elkhorn!

Signing with your hearing baby/toddler is easy, fast and fun. We offer a workshop that teaches you as a parent/daycare worker all you need to know to communicate with your infant/toddler...in just 1 1/2 hours!
Our instructor, Laurie Kroeker, a mother of two, will not only give you the tools that you need to communicate with keyword sign language, but will also share her first-hand signing experience with you...letting you know what works and what doesn't!
Laurie was able to teach her infant keyword signs and was rewarded with her baby's first sign two weeks shy of 6 months of age. At 9 months, she was signing 4 words and understood many more. Not only did her infant sign the word "more," she verbally spoke the word as well. At 18 months her child had a vocabulary of 152 combined signed and verbal words. As her children accompany her to each class, a demonstration of how infant sign language can work between young siblings is part of each workshop.
We are pleased to announce that Laurie's third baby has already clearly signed his first word @ 20 weeks; so as well as observing the signing interaction of siblings firsthand, you will also have the opportunity to sign with him as well to see how easy it really is!!!

Our singing program helps your child discover his/her world through traditional music. Our focus is on learning traditional songs. We will learn to sing beautiful music and have fun exploring our fascinating world in the process.
